Methuen Police Department and Methuen Police Patrolman’s Union to Participate in No-Shave November
METHUEN — Chief Joseph Solomon and Tommy McMenamon Jr., President of Methuen’s Police Patrolman’s Union, announce that the Methuen Police Department will participate in “No-Shave November” this month in order to raise money and “grow” cancer awareness.
“Our department is constantly looking for ways to get involved in fundraising efforts to help those who are in need,” Chief Solomon said. “Unfortunately, cancer has touched the lives of so many people including children. Increasing awareness and funding for cancer research is important to us as a department, and this event is a great way for us to get involved and raise money for the kids.”
For the entire month of November, Methuen Police Officers will make donations in order to grow out their facial hair. The Methuen Patrolmen’s Union will match every donation from the Methuen Police Department and all of the money raised will be donated to Cops for Kids With Cancer.
“This event is near and dear to our hearts. Each member of our organization has been affected by the loss of a family member or friend to this horrible disease,” McMenamon, Jr. said. “To think of a child fighting this disease only furthers our commitment to help in any way possible, and we are proud of the officers represented by this union who are willing to come together and be part of a great cause to draw awareness in our fight against cancer.”
Residents are invited to visit the Methuen Police Department’s Facebook page, where officers will post updates on their progress with growing beards and on donations.
The Methuen Police Department is challenging all area police departments to join them in participating in No-Shave November!
