Concord Police Create Craigslist Safe Exchange Location
CONCORD – Chief Joseph O’Connor reports that the Concord Police Department has established a new program to offer a safe and secure meeting place for residents looking to complete online transactions from websites like Craigslist.
The Concord Police Department Craigslist Safe Exchange Program allows members of the community to the Concord Police station lobby or parking lot to complete online purchases and sales. Police are encouraging citizens to utilize the police station, which is equipped with surveillance cameras and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week as a safe and secure meeting place.
“There can be a lot of anxiety around meeting a stranger to buy or sell something online, but with the Concord Police Department Safe Exchange Program, we hope people will feel more comfortable conducting transactions,” Chief O’Connor said. “The police station is a public building, and we are pleased to provide this service to our residents.”
Residents are asked to call the station ahead of time to notify police of any meet up at 978-318-3400. The community is also reminded to never hesitate to contact police if you feel unsafe or suspicious about an incident or situation.
Chief O’Connor added: “Our Department is committed to providing ‘Exceptional Service. All of the Time.’ I want to thank Detective Scott Camilleri who proposed the program here in Concord.”
