Statement of the Carlisle Board of Selectmen
“Yesterday reminded us of a portion of our wonderful community here in Carlisle that seldom demands the spotlight but always stands ready to help us in times of need. On behalf of all the residents of Carlisle, we would like to earnestly thank the men and women of the Carlisle Police Department and offer them the highest praise for a job truly well done during yesterday’sdangerous incident.
“As a dangerous criminal tore through several communities, the brave officers of the Carlisle Police Department stood ready to defend our town. Our officers put their lives on the line and never wavered, even in the face of gunfire.
“These police officers underscore how important it is for a community to have a well-trained, and equipped police department. As town leaders, it fills us with an enormous sense of pride to know that we have such a wonderful group of men and women on our side.
“We would also like to thank the Bedford, Concord, Chelmsford, Groton, Westford Police Departments, the Massachusetts State Police, the Carlisle Fire Department, and the North East Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council for their help and hard work yesterday. It has been an eventful few days, and we are most grateful that no civilians or police officers were badly hurt. Thank you all for your support and assistance.”
