HUDSON — Chief Bryan Johannes reports that the Hudson Fire Department and mutual aid partners responded to and extinguished a two-alarm fire on White Pond Road on Tuesday afternoon.
On Tuesday, May 2, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Hudson Fire was notified by a 911 call of a possible garage fire at 75 White Pond Road.
The first arriving companies found heavy smoke showing from a two-story detached garage.
The crew of Engine 4 advanced a hose line into the second floor of the garage and discovered that a fire extended from the area of a wood stove into a void space. Conditions began to deteriorate, so a second alarm was struck to bring more manpower to the scene.
Firefighters were able to control the fire in about 40 minutes, and were at the scene until about 6:30 p.m.
The garage suffered heavy damage, but there were no reported injuries.
Off-duty Hudson firefighters responded to the scene, and firefighters from Marlborough provided mutual aid at the scene. Firefighters from Clinton, Stow and Sudbury covered Hudson stations.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Hudson Fire Department.
