NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH — Superintendent John Antonucci is pleased to report that the Joseph W. Martin Elementary School’s Interim Principal and Interim Assistant Principal have each been appointed to serve in their respective positions permanently.
Both appointments are effective immediately.
Dr. Jennifer Evans
Dr. Jennifer Evans has been named the new Principal at the Martin School, after being appointed Interim Principal last July. She previously served as the Martin School Assistant Principal.
Prior to working in North Attleborough, she worked for nearly 20 years for the Taunton Public Schools where she was an inclusion and general education teacher and an Instructional Coach. She has also served in different leadership roles for the YMCA in Mattapoisett and has worked in educational research for the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS).
Principal Evans holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Framingham State University, a Master of Arts from Tufts University, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College, and a Doctor of Philosophy from Lesley University.
“Dr. Evans has served the Martin School well as both Assistant Principal and Interim Principal, and we are thrilled to have named her as the full-time, permanent principal of the school,” Superintendent Antonucci said. “She always puts students first and shows a passion for her work every day, and has made quite an impression on students and the school community in the short time she has been here. We look forward to seeing her bring her exceptional interpersonal skills and a collaborative leadership style to this role moving forward.”
William Simpson
William “Bill” Simpson has been named the new Assistant Principal at Martin School, after being appointed Interim Assistant Principal last summer. He came to the district with four years of Assistant Principal and instructional coaching experience from the Taunton Public Schools.
He has been an elementary teacher in regular education and co-taught (integrated) classrooms. As a teacher, Assistant Principal Simpson pioneered a debate method that drew teachers from inside and outside of his district. He provided professional development on that method and taught workshops on “Fostering Discussion” and “Teaching to Personality.”
Prior to his time in Taunton, he served as a fourth through eighth grade teacher at Milton Academy, where he taught as part of an outreach program that provided opportunities for gifted students.
Assistant Principal Simpson holds a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from Lesley University and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Educational Leadership program at Lesley University.
“Assistant Principal Simpson is a passionate educator with a track record of working closely with fellow instructional professionals to provide the highest quality of education for his students,” Superintendent Antonucci said. “He has worked in a variety of educational settings and we look forward to him bringing his diverse experience and expertise to the permanent role of Assistant Principal.”
