Southeastern Regional Hosts Plumbing Program Alumnus and Actor Brandon Scales

SOUTH EASTON — Superintendent Luis Lopes is pleased to share that the school recently hosted alumnus and actor Brandon Scales to talk to students about his acting career.

On Monday, Nov. 22, Scales visited students in Southeastern’s Video and Performing Arts and Plumbing shops. 

Scales is an alumnus of the school’s plumbing program and spoke with students about his journey to become an actor. He told students about how he wanted to be an actor from an early age, however his grandfather wanted him to follow a career path such as plumbing.

Scales still pursued his acting dream, catching the attention of Director Peter Berg while filming “Patriot’s Day” (2016). He has since been an actor in “Spenser Confidential” (2020) and “Free Guy” (2021), as well as local documentaries.

Scales also participated in a question and answer session. Students asked him about how he mentally prepares for filming, his favorite actors and self-care methods. 

He encouraged students to set goals and work toward them each day. He emphasized the need to block out negativity and to take advantage of any opportunities that come along.

“We are always thrilled to welcome back Southeastern alumni to talk with current students,” Superintendent Lopes said. “Brandon had a lot of valuable advice and lessons to share with our Video and Performing Arts and Plumbing students, and they were excited to ask him questions about his unique career path.”

Scales also visited the plumbing shop and the Boot and Shovel Cafe, and met Superintendent Lopes, Principal Leslie Weckesser, Assistant Superintendent of Compliance and Human Resources Holly McClanan and Director of Student Life Christina Guarini.

The school plans to host Scales again in the spring.
