EASTON — Chief Kevin Partridge reports that the Easton Fire Department extinguished a two-alarm fire at a home earlier today.
At approximately 1 p.m., Easton Fire received a report for a small outside fire at 2 Eastwood Lane. Easton’s Engine 11,12 and 14 and Ladder 11 responded to the scene.
Upon their arrival, Engine 11 reported that the fire extended into the attic of the single-family home. The fire quickly spread through the attic space and fully engulfed the roof in flames. A working fire response was subsequently ordered.
A second alarm was struck drawing mutual aid support from the Sharon, Stoughton, West Bridgewater, Brockton, Mansfield and Norton fire departments to the scene. Raynham Fire provided station coverage.
The Mansfield Emergency Management Agency, Easton Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Providence Canteen 1 were on scene providing rehab.
Through a collaborative effort by all the crews on scene, the fire was largely knocked down by 1:30 p.m.
The house is considered a total loss due to heavy fire and smoke damage throughout the home. Firefighters worked to preserve as much personal property as possible through utilizing salvage covers and carrying personal belongings outside.
The American Red Cross is assisting the six displaced residents.
No one was injured in the fire. The homeowner was outside at the time of the fire.
“Almost all of our surrounding communities came in to support us during this incident and were put to work conserving as much property as they could for the homeowner,” Chief Partridge said. “We thank all of our mutual aid partners for their immediate responses.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
