AMESBURY — Amesbury Fire Chief Kenneth E. Berkenbush reports that a worker was seriously injured during an industrial accident Monday afternoon.
On Monday, Aug. 10 at approximately 2 p.m., the Amesbury Fire Department was called to E F Shea New England Concrete, 87 Haverhill Road, for a report of a male worker who was injured during an industrial accident. The response team extricated the individual from a walkway approximately 15 to 20 feet high.
A landing zone was set up at the E F Shea New England Concrete parking lot and the patient was taken by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital for life threatening injuries.
The investigation into the incident by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is ongoing. It was a difficult extrication The person on top of walkway approximately 15 ton 20 feet. Not only had to sytabie him, but get him down.
The Amesbury Police Department and the Salisbury Fire Department assisted the Amesbury Fire Department at the scene. The Merrimac Fire Department provided station coverage while crews responded to the call.
