Raynham Fire Department Extinguishes Garage Fire at Home
RAYNHAM — Chief James T. Januse reports that the Raynham Fire Department has extinguished a fire that started inside a garage attached to a home on Thursday afternoon.
At approximately noon, the Raynham Fire Department received a call from a homeowner who said her garage was on fire at 20 Fairbanks Ave.
Firefighters quickly responded to find flames shooting from the garage and a breezeway connecting to the two-story wood frame home. The Taunton Fire Department responded to assist at the scene and the Bridgewater Fire Department provided station coverage.
The fire was quickly extinguished and the firefighters were able to prevent it from spreading to the home.
The garage and breezeway sustained heavy fire, water and smoke damage. Power was shut off to the house and the town’s building inspector was called to the scene to evaluate the damage.
No injuries were reported and the homeowner was able to escape safely. Two residents will be displaced while restoration repairs are made to the home.
The fire is believed to have started in the garage. Raynham Police and Fire are investigating the cause of the fire, but it is not believed to be suspicious.
