WBZ-TV is reporting that a former firefighter was killed overnight in a 2-alarm fire in his Weston home.
Ross Giamo, 68, was found dead inside after firefighters knocked down the blaze.
Weston Fire Chief David Soar told WBZ that this is the first fatal fire in Weston in more than 20 years. The Wellesley Street home was fully involved when firefighter arrived, and they were forced backward by the intensity of the flames.
Chief Soar told WBZ’s Bree Sison that it appeared to be an electrical fire.
“Ross was a retired Weston Fire Fighter and a great friend to all,” Weston Police wrote on their Facebook page. “Our condolences go out to his brother Weston Fire Fighters, his family and his friends.”
Indeed, our hearts go out to the Giamo family and the entire Weston Fire Department.
