HOPKINTON — Fire Chief Gary Daugherty reports that the Hopkinton Fire Department rescued a tree worker who had become stuck in a bucket truck this morning.
On Tuesday, Jan. 14 at approximately 11:40 a.m., the Hopkinton Fire Department responded to a call for assistance at 298 Hayden Rowe St. after a tree worker became stuck about 65 feet in the air.
The worker had been cutting down a tree in a bucket truck when the hydraulic arm that was holding him up failed, preventing the worker from being able to descend back to the ground.
Due to the bucket’s location and limited access points for the Hopkinton Fire Department’s ladder truck, it was determined that the safest method of rescuing the uninjured tree worker would be through the use of a high-point anchor and lowering system.
The Massachusetts Fire District 14 Technical Rescue Team was called to the scene and assisted the Hopkinton Fire Department with the rescue.
Crews worked together to assemble the high-point system and to safely lower the tree worker to the ground without incident.
