BURLINGTON — Fire Chief Andrew Connerty, Police Chief Thomas P. Browne, State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine, and Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan report that the man pulled from a burning house by Burlington Police on Sunday morning has died as a result of injuries he sustained in the fire.
The victim has been identified as PAUL SPENCER, 60, of BURLINGTON.
On Sunday, Dec. 29, at approximately 4:08 a.m., Burlington Fire and Police responded to 16 Evelyn St. after receiving a 911 call from a passerby who reported a fire at the home.
On arrival, crews observed heavy fire coming from the roof of the home.
A Burlington Police officer entered the home, located an unconscious resident, later identified as SPENCER, and pulled him out of the house. The Burlington Fire Department transported SPENCER to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, where he later died.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by the Burlington Fire Department, Burlington Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
