LUDLOW — Town Administrator Marc Strange and the Board of Selectmen are pleased to announce the Town of Ludlow’s new Power Choice Program.
The Ludlow Power Choice Program is a municipal electricity aggregation, which is a type of group electricity purchasing program for Ludlow residents and businesses.
The program will consist of the Town using the collective buying power of the community to provide new electricity choices that give Ludlow electricity customers better control over the price and environmental impact of the electricity they use.
Eversource will continue to deliver electricity to customers in Ludlow without interruption. The program will be integrated into participants’ existing Eversource electric bill and it will change the price used to calculate the Supply portion of the bill, which is meant for residents to pay only for what they use. With the program, instead of receiving Eversource’s Basic Service price, participants will receive a Ludlow Power Choice price for their electricity supply.
Before launching the program, the Town must develop an Aggregation Plan and submit it to state regulators for review and approval. To ensure the public has an opportunity to be a part of developing this program, the Town is making its draft Aggregation Plan and associated documents available for review and comment before beginning the regulatory review process.
The draft Aggregation Plan for Ludlow Power Choice will be available for public review and comment from Feb. 23 until March 19. Those interested in reviewing the Plan and associated documents can view and download them here or by obtaining a copy from the Board of Selectmen’s Office.
Ludlow residents and business owners are encouraged to review the plan and submit written comments via email to Selectmen@ludlow.ma.us or via U.S. Mail to 488 Chapin St., Ludlow, MA 01056. Comments sent by mail must be received, and not postmarked, by the end of the comment period in order to be addressed.
Additionally, an overview of the projected plan will be presented at the Board of Selectmen meeting on March 19 at 6 p.m., and residents are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.
