ATTLEBORO — Superintendent David Sawyer and Principal Kate Campbell are proud to share that Attleboro High School’s Marketing CTE program is celebrating a major achievement after junior Adam Alderson qualified for DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Florida, this April.
Adam, competing in DECA for the first time, demonstrated exceptional skill in the Principles of Finance category. He earned first place at the district competition and went on to place in the Top 10 at the Massachusetts State Career Development Conference (SCDC), securing his spot at the prestigious international event.
The competition consists of two key components: a 100-question multiple-choice exam covering finance-related topics and a roleplay scenario in which competitors are given 10 minutes to analyze a real-world financial situation, develop a solution, and create supplemental visuals. Participants then present their responses to a judge, who evaluates their performance based on industry-specific indicators. The test accounts for one-third of the final score, while the role-play contributes two-thirds. Those who excel in the initial round advance to the finals.
This achievement is particularly significant for Attleboro High School, as this is only the second year the school has participated in DECA competitions.
Marketing CTE instructor Lisa Crisafulli will accompany Adam as they represent Attleboro High School and the state of Massachusetts on the international stage.
“We are incredibly proud of Adam’s hard work and dedication,” said Crisafulli. “Competing at this level is a remarkable accomplishment, and we can’t wait to see him showcase his skills in Orlando.”
ICDC brings together the best and brightest from across the world, providing students with opportunities to compete, network, and gain real-world business experience. Adam’s success highlights the strength of Attleboro High School’s Marketing CTE program and the dedication of its students.
