EASTON — Chief Keith Boone reports that Easton Police Detectives, along with State Police Detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, continue to investigate a shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon.
On Tuesday, Jan. 14, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Easton Police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting that occurred at the Avalon Easton Apartments located on Robert Drive.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 16-year-old female, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.
The victim was transported by the Easton Fire Department to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton and subsequently transported by medical helicopter to a Boston-area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim is currently listed in stable condition.
Witnesses on the scene reported that the suspect(s) fled in a black sports utility vehicle prior to police arrival.
While the investigation is active, investigators believe this was an isolated incident and that the victim and attacker(s) are known to each other.
Currently, the investigation has led to a substantial collection of evidence, including the seizure of two vehicles. The first was located in the Town of Mansfield and the second in the City of Brockton.
At this time, there have been no charges sought in the attack; however, an 18-year-old male who resides in Brockton was arrested by members of the Massachusetts State Police, with the assistance of Brockton Police officers, for possession of a firearm. Investigators believe both incidents are related.
The investigation remains active and involves several law enforcement agencies.
There is no further information available at this time.
