RYE — Rye Fire and Rescue and Rye Toy Bank would like to thank the community for their support and generous donations during this year’s annual toy drive.
The Rye Toy Bank collected hundreds of toys and other items for residents and community members in need this holiday season. This was the 19th year Rye has participated in a holiday toy drive.
Donation boxes were located throughout town in all municipal buildings, schools, and public safety buildings. Accepted items included unwrapped, new/unused toys, and clothing items for all ages.
Thanks to the community’s generosity, Rye Toy Bank donated toys and other gifts to Rye families. Rye Toy Bank then donated the remaining donations to children at Wentworth Douglas Hospital, and other local toy drives in Pittsburg, NH, and Haverhill, MA.
Rye Toy Bank works directly with schools, parents, and community members to collect much-needed items for those in need during the holiday season.
“On behalf of the Rye Toy Bank I want to thank everyone who generously supported our efforts this holiday season,” said Rye Toy Bank Director Bob Whittet.
Due to the success of this year’s drive, Rye Toy Bank can keep a stock of the extra donated toys, which will go to support local families affected by fires.
This year’s toy drive was held in honor of Lieutenant Charles ‘Chuck’ Gallant, who passed away last year. Lt. Gallant was deeply involved in the Rye Toy Bank, volunteering countless hours throughout the holidays.
The toy drive will be held annually in memory of founder, Lt. Chuck Gallant.
