CONCORD — Chief Thomas Judge reports that the Concord Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at a condominium complex on Sunday morning.
On Sunday, Sept. 29, at approximately 8:12 a.m., Concord Fire responded to a fire alarm activation at 95 Conant St., a four-story multi-building condominium complex.
Many residents evacuated the building on their own, but firefighters determined that about a dozen residents were still inside.
Firefighters performed door-to-door evacuations and had to physically relocate three residents who couldn’t evacuate on their own.
A second alarm was struck to bring additional resources to the scene because Concord Fire was simultaneously responding to a medical call.
Crews encountered moderate smoke on the first floor of Building No. 2 and lighter smoke on the upper floors.
When crews entered an attached garage, they found a fire in the ceiling. The fire was quickly extinguished.
Firefighters shut off all utilities to the building and conducted extensive overhauling and ventilation. Crews remain on the scene.
Residents of both buildings will be temporarily displaced due to utilities being shut off.
The Acton, Bedford, Lexington, Lincoln, Maynard, Sudbury, and Weston fire departments provided mutual aid at the scene. The Carlisle and Wayland fire departments provided station coverage.
Concord Police also provided assistance at the scene, including road detours.
A Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Special Operations team provided rehab and radio communications support.
The fire remains under investigation by the Concord Fire Department and State Police detectives assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
