BURLINGTON — Fire Chief Andrew Connerty and Police Chief Thomas P. Browne report that the Burlington Fire and Police Departments responded to a house fire and pulled an unconscious resident from the home early Sunday morning.
On Sunday, Dec. 29, at approximately 4:08 a.m., Burlington Fire and Police responded to 16 Evelyn St. after receiving a 911 call from a passerby who reported a fire at the home.
On arrival, crews observed heavy fire coming from the roof of the home.
A Burlington Police officer entered the home, located an unconscious resident, and pulled them out of the house. The Burlington Fire Department transported the resident to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington. Their condition is unknown at this time.
Firefighters immediately began attacking the fire, which had already caused a partial collapse of the roof to the one-story, single-family home. Firefighters battled the fire for about 40 minutes before bringing it under control. They remained on scene throughout the morning, extinguishing hot spots.
The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by the Burlington Fire Department, Burlington Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.
