SWANSEA — Town Administrator Mallory Aronstein and Director of Veterans Services Kevin Serpa wish to invite community members to the Town of Swansea’s Veterans Day Ceremony.
On Monday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m., the Town of Swansea will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony for the community’s veterans at Veterans’ Memorial Green, 101 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, MA 02777. The event is hosted by Swansea Veterans Services, the American Legion Post #303, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2045.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the American Legion Post #303 at 73 Ocean Grove Ave., Swansea, MA 02777.
The ceremony will include a traditional wreath placing and a presentation of the Color Guard, followed by presentations from guest speakers Congressman Jake Auchincloss, State Rep. Patricia Haddad, and Selectmen Robert Medeiros and Michael Beaudette.
The winner of Joseph Case Junior High School’s “What Veterans Day Means to Me” essay contest will be announced at the ceremony, and the winning student will read the essay. Joseph Case Junior High School’s chorus will sing the national anthem.
“I would like to invite the community to join us for a Veterans Day Ceremony honoring the courageous men and women who have served our country,” Director of Veterans Services Serpa said. “This event will be a chance to show our respect and gratitude for their sacrifices and commitment to protecting our freedom.”
