PLAINVILLE — Chief Richard J. Ball is pleased to announce that the Plainville Fire Department will distribute buckets of salt and sand to seniors in the community through the department’s Senior SAFE Program.
Plainville Fire Department’s Senior SAFE Program is partnering with the Plainville Council on Aging and the Plainville Department of Public Works to distribute buckets of sand/salt mix to residents. The program will run from Dec. 1 throughout the winter months.
The Plainville Lowe’s has generously donated 5-gallon buckets for firefighters to fill and deliver to homes throughout the community to spread on any icy spots, reducing the chances of slip and fall injuries.
The free service is available to Plainville residents who are unable to get sand for themselves. Interested residents can sign up at the Plainville Senior Center, 9 School St., or by calling the Plainville Fire Department at 508-695-5252.
“As we get further into the winter months, we encourage members of our community to take advantage of this new service,” said Chief Ball. “The Senior SAFE Program does a lot to help the seniors in Town, and we are happy to partner with the Council on Aging and the DPW to distribute these materials to those in need.”
Any questions regarding the program should be directed to the Plainville Fire Department at 508-695-5252.
