The Salvation Army is often referred to as one of the largest music educators in the world. The non-profit organization’s music programs teach people, regardless of age, how to sing and play instruments at no cost. These skills are utilized in a myriad of ways, such as playing in a Salvation Army Band, singing in a choir, performing in dance and arts, or playing an instrument at one of The Salvation Army’s iconic Red Kettles during the holidays.
Though the music training is for all ages, Salvation Army’s music and arts programs provide clear benefits for younger members. The organization understands that involvement in the arts is critical to the development of young minds and especially for those growing up in at-risk communities. As a result, The Salvation Army ensures that young people will have a safe place to explore these subjects when schools are increasingly cutting arts programs or designating them electives.
Donations to the signature Red Kettles allow The Salvation Army to provide life-changing social services and other programs, like music, across Massachusetts each year. With increasing requests for services as many people continue to struggle with the long-lasting impacts of the pandemic and inflation, The Salvation Army relies on support from donors and volunteers to help as many individuals and families as possible. The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division is setting out to raise more than $2.5 million through this year’s Red Kettle Campaign to meet increasing requests for assistance.
Families in need count on donor support to have a joyous holiday season. During a typical year, anywhere from 40-60% of funds raised by The Salvation Army come directly from public and individual contributions. Opportunities for individuals and businesses to show their support of The Salvation Army this holiday season are still available.
