Over 30 Bourne Middle School students in the drama program have been rehearsing and preparing for their upcoming performances of the play “Hoodie.” There will be two performances, one on Friday at the middle school and the second at the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild (METG) Festival Competition on Saturday. As part of the festival, Saturday’s performance will be judged by METG judges.
“Hoodie” by playwright Lindsay Price is a play that examines how hard it is to be yourself in Middle School. The vignette-style play explores a variety of characters who are faced with the tough choice of whether they should follow the crowd or stand out as an individual. This play is an ensemble-based play with no main character. All roles in the play are equally important.
Tickets are being sold at the door both days. Tickets cost $5 for students and $10 for parents and community members for Friday’s performance. Tickets will be $10 for Saturday’s performance. Those interested in attending either show should note that only cash payments for tickets will be accepted.
METG is a nonprofit organization that promotes and strengthens excellence, access and education in the theatrical arts for middle and high school students and teachers. More than 150 schools throughout the state are members.
