GEORGETOWN — Chief Matt McKay is pleased to announce that Georgetown Fire Department has received a new ambulance.
The new Ambulance 11, a 2022 Wheeled Coach, arrived in Georgetown Thursday,April 27, and is scheduled to be put into service in the coming week.
Ambulance 11 features improved emergency lighting improvements, 4-wheel drive capabilities, liquid spring suspension, 360-degree scene lighting, integrated HVAC disinfecting system, and a separate compartment for patient transport.
The new ambulance replaces an old 2003 AEV ambulance. The 2003 AEV received an updated chassis and cab in 2014. However, the ambulance box is still about 20 years old, well beyond its practical expectancy, and lacked modern technological features and up-to-date safety features.
The new Ambulance 11 was funded by the Department’s COVID Relief Fund and the Ambulance Enterprise Fund.
“I would like to thank the town and our residents for their support in the purchase of this new ambulance,” said Chief McKay. “This ambulance will serve us well into the future and allow us to better assist and equip our members when responding to calls.”
