HINGHAM — Community members are invited to provide their feedback on the Town of Hingham’s draft plan for improving accessibility for those with disabilities.
Hingham’s draft Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan outlines a wide range of recommended approaches the town can take to improve accessibility across all of its assets — from town buildings and open spaces to its policies, procedures and web presence.
The ADA requires municipalities to complete a self-evaluation of public facilities, programs, services, activities and events to assess compliance with the law and identify and address barriers to accessibility.
As part of that work, the town has completed its draft self-evaluation and transition plan and is now seeking community feedback on that document. To learn more about the process and review the work the town has done so far, click here.
Community members are encouraged to review each of those documents and, upon doing so, provide feedback on each using the town’s web-based feedback form, which can be found here.
These resources are also available for review, in printed form and in Braille at the Hingham Public Library’s Reference Desk.
“We are making a unified effort toward making Hingham a more inclusive and accessible community for all. Stakeholder feedback on our work so far will be critical in finalizing plans for a wide variety of improvements,” Assistant Town Administrator for Operations Art Robert said. “We hope residents will provide their input on the needs we’ve identified so we can move forward and improve accessibility for all in Hingham.”
