MANSFIELD — Superintendent Teresa Murphy, Mansfield High School Athletic Director Timothy Selmon and Principal Russ Booth are pleased to announce the expansion of the Mansfield High School Sports Hall of Fame to include all sports.
The expansion will be celebrated on Friday, May 19 at the EnVision Hotel and Conference Center Mansfield-Foxboro, 31 Hampshire Street. Admission is $50 per person which includes dinner, a cash bar and the recognition of all inductees. All are welcome to attend.

This spring the following sports will be added to the Mansfield High School Sports Hall of Fame:
- Baseball
- Softball
- Mens and Womens Tennis
- Mens and Womens Lacrosse
- Gymnastics
- Wrestling
- Volleyball
- Golf
- Mens and Womens Hockey
- Mens and Womens Spring Track
- Mens and Womens Winter Track
- Mens and Womens Cross Country
- Mens and Womens Swim and Dive
Upon expansion, 16 former Mansfield High School student-athletes will be inducted into the Mansfield High School Sports Hall of Fame. The list of 16 inductees includes some of Mansfield’s greatest student-athletes and covers over 60 years of Mansfield sports history.
Inductees include student-athletes from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and a group of student-athletes from 2000-2012 that participated in athletic programs introduced to Mansfield High School in the early 2000s, including gymnastics, swim and dive and lacrosse.
Student-athletes to be inducted have previously been awarded honors including MVP, Hockomock League All-Star, Boston Globe and Herald All-Scholastic, Team Captain, record holders and members of championship teams.
Inductees include:
Ron Gentili, Class of 1962, (baseball) will become the first male athlete inducted into the Mansfield High School Sports Hall of Fame for three sports. He was previously inducted for football and basketball.
B.J. Sparrow, Class of 1989, (softball) will become the first female athlete inducted into the Mansfield High School Sports Hall of Fame for three sports. She was previously inducted for field hockey and basketball.
Diane Jackson, formally known as Diane Liberatore, Class of 1961, will be the first Mansfield High School alumnus inducted as both a coach (women’s tennis) and as an athlete (dual inductee for women’s tennis and women’s basketball).
Jimmy Connors, Class of 2005, (wrestling and football), and Kathryn Campbell, Class of 2011, (women’s lacrosse and basketball) will be inducted for two sports this spring.
Paul Souza, Class of 1979, (men’s track and field) will add a second sport as he was previously inducted for basketball as a 1,000-point scorer for the Mansfield High School Hornets.
The Mansfield Hall of Fame Committee will continue its traditional Fall Hall of Fame Banquet in late November of 2023 for men’s and women’s Soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, football, field hockey, golf, volleyball, wrestling and gymnastics.
The Spring Banquet in 2024 will include men’s and women’s track and field/cross country, men’s and women’s swim and dive, baseball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s ice hockey.
“We are proud to welcome these 16 former student-athletes into the Mansfield High School Sports Hall of Fame,” said Athletic Director Timothy Selmon. “We look forward to continuing to honor these extremely talented individuals and give them the recognition they deserve.”
