PLAINVILLE — Treasurer-Collector Janet Jannell, on behalf of the Plainville Taxation Aid Committee, encourages residents to help Plainville’s low-income elderly and disabled residents by supporting the town’s Elderly and Disabled Taxation Aid Fund.
The Taxation Aid Fund is a voluntary program that allows residents to make a donation to help assist vulnerable members of the town. Last year, with the assistance of the fund, the Taxation Aid Committee was able to award tax grants ranging from $500 to $900 to 11 Plainville residents.
This is the third year in a row that the Committee is beginning its fundraising efforts, with the goal of increasing the award amount provided to vulnerable residents.
“This fund presents the opportunity for the Town of Plainville to support its most vulnerable residents,” Treasurer-Collector Jannell said. “I urge all eligible seniors to take advantage of this program, and encourage any business or residents with the ability to do so to donate to this fund that helps to defray costs for our low-income elderly and disabled residents.”
