MEDFIELD — Superintendent Jeffrey J. Marsden and K-12 Music Department Head/High School Band Director Jason Bielik are pleased to share that several Medfield Public Schools students participated in the Massachusetts Music Educators Association’s (MMEA) 2023 Senior Eastern District Music Festival.
The two-day festival was hosted at Boston Latin High School from Jan. 6-7. Students from the MMEA Eastern District participated in the festival after initial auditions were held in November 2022. Approximately 1,000 students auditioned for a spot in the festival.
Concert Band students Lauren Barr, Amelia DeHoff, Alexander Mazurenko, Christian Roth and Lukas Subacs were accepted and participated in the Eastern District Festival.
Concert Choir students Patrick Brennan, Neva Fuller, Noah Hutchinson, Ava Morrison, Sean Narkewich, James O’Loughlin, Sadie Rothstein, Kiera Stanton, Margaret Tucker, Alithia Varughes and Julia Wall were also accepted and participated in the Eastern District Festival.
Additionally, DeHoff, Fuller, Morrison, Rothstein, Stanton, Tucker and Wall were invited to audition for the 2023 All-State Festival. These students were in the top half of all accepted musicians on their instrument or voice parts. The All-State Festival auditions will take place on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Shrewsbury High School.
“Our students work hard to prepare for these events each year, and we are so proud of all the students who auditioned for the Senior Festival, as well as congratulate those who participated on a successful event,” Bielik said. “We also wish our All-State audition invitees the best as they prepare for the upcoming event.”
