ACTON — Interim Chief James Cogan reports that the Acton Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.
On Monday, Jan. 23, around 11:45 AM, Acton Police and Firefighters responded to a report that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the area of Concord Road near Alcott Street.
Through an initial, on-scene investigation, officers determined that a dark-colored van fled the scene in an unknown direction after striking the pedestrian. Though the van initially fled the scene, it was later located when the alleged driver contacted Acton Police.
The pedestrian involved was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital but ultimately died from their injuries. Additional information is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation into this incident, in coordination with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, remains active and ongoing.
