BELMONT – Chief David DeStefano reports that the Belmont Fire Department responded to a working fire in a condominium complex on Lexington Street on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Belmont Fire Department responded to a reported house fire on Lexington Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fire in the ceiling and attic space of a 5-unit townhouse-style condominium building. The building was searched and all occupants were evacuated. The fire was quickly extinguished in the unit of origin.

All on-duty Belmont firefighters responded, along with mutual aid from the Watertown and Cambridge Fire Departments. The Arlington and Cambridge Fire Departments covered Belmont stations during the fire.
