ACTON — Interim Chief James Cogan reports that the Acton Police Department has charged an 85-year-old Maynard woman with leaving the scene of a crash in November that caused serious injuries to a 13-year-old boy.
JOAN HURLEY, AGE 85, OF MAYNARD, was charged with:
- Leaving the Scene of Personal Injury
- Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Crosswalk Violation
On Wednesday, Nov. 2, at about 6:15 p.m., Acton Police and Fire were called to Great Road, in the area of Harris Street, for a report of a crash.
First responders discovered a 13-year-old male suffering from serious injuries, and worked to treat that male and transport him to a Boston area trauma center.
An intensive investigation collected video surveillance from nearby businesses to identify a vehicle of interest in the case. Acton Police subsequently obtained a search warrant and seized that vehicle.
The ongoing investigation identified HURLEY as the driver.
Acton Police sought a criminal complaint charging HURLEY from Concord District Court, which was issued by the court on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
HURLEY is scheduled to be arraigned in Concord District Court on March 9.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
