TAUNTON — Superintendent Alexandre Magalhaes and Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School are pleased to announce that two Business and Applied Technologies students have qualified for the Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship.
Senior Mackenzie Medeiros of Rehoboth and junior Logan Adey of Assonet were among the top scorers in Massachusetts on the Microsoft Specialist Certification exam Fall Qualifier. Medeiros placed third in PowerPoint and Adey placed third in Microsoft Word, leading them both to advance to the national round of the competition.
The National Championship, presented by Certiport, will take place June 26-28 in Orlando, Florida. At the event, students from across the country will compete to earn scholarships, prizes, medals, trophies and certificates. The winner will advance to the World Championship.
“Mackenzie and Logan have proven that they are true experts in these Microsoft programs. We are very excited to see them both represent Bristol-Plymouth at the National Championship where they will compete against many talented students from around the U.S.,” Superintendent Magalhaes said. “Their scores are a testament to all their hard work, as well as the hard work of their Instructor Kara Powers, who has gone above and beyond to help her students succeed.”
Business and Applied Technologies Instructor Kara Powers was recognized as Outstanding Educator for the 2022 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship Fall Qualifier for providing students exceptional instruction and support.
Additional students will have a chance to qualify for the National Championship during the Spring Qualifier. Bristol-Plymouth is a certified testing center and offers students the opportunity to attain Microsoft certifications through Certiport for free.
