Bourne High School Musicians Selected to Perform in Regional Music Festivals

Six Bourne Musicians Also Invited to Audition for All State Music Festival

BOURNE — After nailing their auditions, several students from Bourne High School’s music program have been selected to perform in regional music festivals in the coming weeks and months, and some will have the honor of auditioning for the All State Music Festival.

Last month, Bourne musicians from grades 10-12, auditioned for an opportunity to perform at the All Cape and Island Music Festival and Southeast District Music Festival.

Auditions for the All Cape and Island Music Festival were held on Nov. 16, at Sandwich High School, and auditions for the Southeast District Music Festival were held on Nov. 19 at King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham.

For their auditions, each student learned a prepared piece of music and performed a scale and sight reading. Students performed songs that best suited their musical instrument or voice.

The Bourne High School students who were selected to participate in the All Cape and Island Music Festival were:

  • Moose Hoagland – Clarinet
  • Molly Lodge – Soprano
  • Bella Palumbo – Soprano
  • Krista Nee – Soprano
  • Claire Koosa – Soprano
  • Aspen Langley – Alto
  • Kendra Mahoney – Alto
  • Natalie Galisa – Alto
  • Logan Broadway – Tenor
  • Jack Martin – Tenor
  • Connor MacLeod – Tenor
  • Jay Gary – Bass
  • Cooper White – Bass

The All Cape and Island Music Festival will be held on Feb. 2-4 at Barnstable High School in Hyannis.

The students selected to play in the Southeast District Music Festival were:

  • Moose Hoagland- Clarinet
  • Molly Lodge- Soprano
  • Bella Palumbo – Soprano
  • Krista Nee- Soprano
  • Aspen Langley – Alto
  • Logan Broadway- Tenor
  • Jack Martin- Tenor
  • Jay Gary- Bass
  • Cooper White- Bass

The festival will be on Jan. 6-7 at Somerset Berkley High School in Somerset.

Six Bourne musicians who scored the highest at the Southeast District auditions were also invited to audition for the All State Music Festival. Auditions for the All State Music Festival will be held Jan. 21 at Shrewsbury High School with some of the best high school musicians in the state.

Students who will audition to play in the All State Music Festival are:

  • Moose Hoagland
  • Molly Lodge
  • Krista Nee
  • Aspen Langley
  • Jack Martin
  • Jay Gary

Students auditioning for the All State Music Festival must learn a brand-new solo and perform a more difficult set of sight reading and scales.

Bourne High School music teacherLisa Fournier would like to congratulate everyone who auditioned and wish them luck in their upcoming performances.

“I am extremely proud of all of our students for their hard work and dedication for these auditions,” Fournier said. “Our students should feel extremely accomplished as they now have the opportunity to perform in regional and potentially statewide festivals. I am honored to be their teacher and watch them grow into wonderful musicians and I am excited to see their performances in the next few months!”
