IPSWICH – Chief Paul Nikas and the Ipswich Police Department are pleased to announce that they recently received a generous donation of 24 comfort bags from the Ipswich Girl Scout Junior Troop 82323.

Police will give comfort bags, which include a stuffed animal, a coloring book, and markers, to children they encounter who are involved in traumatic situations.

Troop 82323 consists of 12 fifth-grade girls from the Paul F. Doyon Memorial School: Allie Hubbard, Anna Morris, Chloe Livermore, Emma Gallegos, Emma Leonard, Gwen Lees, Hanna Hardy, Kaitlyn Bencal, Lua Nixon, McKenna Moses, Riley Brennan, and Samantha Roge. The Scouts used funding directly from their annual cookie sales to purchase the comfort bag.

Troop 82323 would like to give a big thank you to their Girl Scout Cookie customers for their generous purchases of cookies over the years, which gave them the opportunity to work on this community service project.

“I would like to thank Troop 82323 for their generosity and thinking of children in need when coming up with this idea,” said Chief Nikas. “These bags will be extremely helpful when responding to call involving children and a wonderful way to give back to the community. Helping their community is an opportunity for each of these Scouts to grow as a person and to better understand how they fit into the world around them. We as a department are honored to be supported by such kind-hearted individuals.”
