NAHANT – Chief Timothy Furlong shares that members of the Nahant Police Department delivered numerous gifts to the Boys & Girls Club of Lynn’s Toy Drive, the result of the overwhelming generosity of Nahant residents.
The Department parked a cruiser in front of the station for several weeks, and asked residents to fill it with new, unwrapped toys. On Monday, Dec. 19, Department members arrived at the Club with two cruisers packed with gifts.
“The community always responds when the Department asks for help, but the kindness shown during ‘Stuff a Cruiser’ went beyond what we could have imagined. We lost count of the number of donations we received,” Chief Furlong said. “Thank you to everyone who donated, for bringing a child a smile on Christmas morning.”
The Club serves more than 1,500 youth ages 5-18 from Lynn, Nahant, and surrounding communities. The Club focuses on five areas: education and career development; character and leadership development; health and life skills; the arts; and sports, fitness and recreation activities. It offers programming for children ages 5-13, a Teen Center, and after-school drop-in program, and a summer camp program at Camp Creighton in Middleton.
