IPSWICH — Town Manager Stephen Crane and Public Health Director Colleen Fermon wish to announce that free, at-home COVID-19 test kits are available for residents and business operators.
The free at-home rapid antigen tests from iHealth Labs can be picked up immediately from the Public Health Department and the Council on Aging, at Ipswich Town Hall, 25 Green St. Tests can also be picked up from Ipswich Public Library, 25 North Main St.
Residents and community members, regardless of vaccination status or whether they have been exposed to COVID-19, can pick up a test during normal business hours at any of the locations.
Town Hall hours:
- Monday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Tuesday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Library hours:
- Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Instructions on how to complete the test, which have been translated into 12 languages, can be found here.
Samples do not need to be sent to a lab and results are available within 15 minutes after sample collection. Cell phones or computers are not necessary for any part of the test.
A positive test result means that the test detected a COVID-19 infection. Individuals who test positive should follow the state’s isolation guidance.
The test kits have an expiration date that has been extended from what is printed on the box, and further extensions are possible. Individuals can look up new expiration dates and check for additional extensions here.
COVID-19 rapid tests are one of many risk-reduction measures, along with vaccination and staying home when sick, to reduce the chances of spreading COVID-19.
