Sign Up by Dec. 31 for Coverage

LUDLOW — Fire Chief Ryan Pease wishes to remind community members to sign up for the Ludlow Fire Department’s 2023 Ambulance Subscription Program by Dec. 31 to ensure coverage for the new year.

The Program will pay all costs of emergency ambulance services provided by the Ludlow Fire Department that are not covered by the subscriber’s insurance. All residents living in the same household are covered under one subscription payment.

Currently, the out-of-pocket cost for Advance Life Saving transport is $1,350 plus mileage.

The ambulance subscription fee will increase this year from $40 to $50 per household. The Department has been faced with increased costs to supplies and equipment and the slight fee increase will help offset those expenses. The last fee increase occurred in 2010.

The fee may be used as a tax deduction to the extent of the law. Donations from this program are used to help purchase necessary supplies and equipment for the Ludlow Ambulance Service. In the past, these funds have been primarily spent on capital expenditures, including ambulance purchases.

“As we are nearing the end of the ambulance subscription program for this year, we are reminding and encouraging residents to sign up for next year so that they don’t miss out on this beneficial and cost-effective program,” Chief Pease said.

Residents should be aware that 2022 subscriptions expire on Dec. 31. To ensure coverage into the new year, please pay online or in person before Dec. 31.

The Ludlow Fire Department has mailed the 2023 Ambulance Subscription sign-up form to all households in Ludlow. Residents should have received them in October. The Department also offers a quick and easy way to sign up for this service online here. Residents who do not receive a form by mail can print one online or call the Fire Department to request one.

Those who wish to drop off payment at the station should leave it on one of the secure drop boxes located outside the Fire Dispatch Area on the Center Street side or inside the main vestibule of the Public Safety Complex on the Chapin Street side. Cash and checks are accepted.

For questions or assistance, please call the Ludlow Fire Department at 413-583-8332, ext. 2309, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
