CHARLTON — Superintendent-Director Kyle Brenner is pleased to share that the Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School Football Team won the State Vocational Championship earlier this month.
Bay Path Minutemen faced the Monty Tech Bulldogs on Thursday, Dec. 1 at Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Dudley. Bay Path defeated the team with a final score of 28-20.
Senior captain Casey Gallagher of North Brookfield rushed for 192 yards and had two touchdowns during the game. Sophomore Kaiden Brochu of Dudley rushed for 217 yards. Brochu finished the season second all-time in Bay Path history with 1,851 rushing yards during the season.
During the championship, the Bay Path offense set the school rushing record with 421 yards in the game. This surpassed the 1991 record of 408 yards in a game versus Shepherd Hill.
Senior Gabriel Espinosa of Southbridge, CMASS Division 6 Defensive MVP, had 16 tackles in the game.
Bay Path’s defense also held Monty Tech to just 20 points. Monty Tech had averaged nearly 30 points a game throughout the season.
“Great job to our football program for its big win this month and a fantastic season. The players worked together and our seniors showed true leadership throughout this championship,” Superintendent-Director Brenner. “This win is shared amongst our students and our devoted coaches, and I offer them my congratulations.”
The Minutemen were led to victory by: Head Football Coach Cody Giampa, Assistant Coach Bryan Richards, Assistant Coach Matthew Fall, Assistant Coach Ricardo Carrero, Assistant Coach Dana Giampa, Assistant Coach Tom Connor, Assistant Coach Austin Mendes, Freshman Coach John Selen and Freshman Assistant Coach Mike Salvaggio.
Bay Path concluded the season with a record of 8-5.
