MILTON — Principal Suzanne Banach is pleased to announce that the first phase of the Early Childhood Center outdoor playground space at St. Mary of the Hills School has been completed.
Father Eric Bennett opened the playground with a blessing last month before students had the chance to use and play with the new equipment.
The play structure, along with the new tricycle track, was designed with input from the teachers at the Early Childhood Center. Elements throughout the playground focus on fine and gross motor skills. The space encourages cooperative play as well as plenty of creative and imaginative play.
The next phase of the project will include an outdoor classroom and garden space. Early Childhood Center Director Devon Holt has been researching an outdoor curriculum that will enhance and supplement the indoor learning experience in each classroom.
Those with children between the ages of 2.9 and 4 years old are welcome to take a tour of the Early Childhood Center and see what makes the program so special. Applications for the 2023-24 school year are available, and those looking to complete the application process or for more information on tour dates can visit the school’s website at www.smhschool.org or call Ms. Collins in the Admissions Office at 617-698-2464.
