HAMPTON — Superintendent Dr. Lois Costa and Principal Nathan Saddler are pleased to share that Adeline C. Marston School honored local veterans at its first Veterans Day Assembly since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
On Nov. 10, students, faculty and more than 50 local veterans gathered at the school in observance of Veterans Day. The assembly began and ended with a color guard led by students.
Each class presented special handmade gifts to the veterans, which included bookmarks, thank you letters in the shape of American flags, written poems and more. Students also performed patriotic and military branch-specific songs that they worked diligently to learn and perfect over the last month with the help of Music Director August Carlson.
Commander Berk Bennet also spoke to the students about the military, his experience in the Air Force and the importance of Veterans Day. He is commander of American Legion Post 35 in Hampton.
“This was a special way to commemorate all those who have served our country and show our appreciation for all they have done,” Principal Saddler said. “It was quite heartwarming to see our students connect with so many local veterans for the first time in three years through this meaningful and informative assembly.”
