TEWKSBURY – Police Chief Ryan Columbus is pleased to share that the Tewksbury Police Department’s unions, the Tewksbury Police Benevolent Association, and the Tewksbury Police Athletic League are partnering with the Tewksbury Community Pantry to host a Thanksgiving Family Meal Distribution this Sunday.
WHEN:
Sunday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
WHERE:
The Tewksbury Community Pantry, 999 Whipple Road
WHAT:
The Tewksbury Police Benevolent Association, a community group that seeks to do good within Tewksbury, the Tewksbury Police Superior Officer’s Union, the Tewksbury Police Patrolman’s Union, and the Tewksbury Police Athletic League have donated toward the purchase of turkeys and traditional Thanksgiving fixings to be distributed to families in need. Members of these groups also will assist in food distribution on Sunday.
This annual effort by the Tewksbury Community Pantry serves Tewksbury residents who have utilized the pantry for food support in recent months and have provided necessary documentation in advance of the distribution. Due to the known census and limitations on food supplies, the pantry is unable to assist unregistered guests for this event. As always, those in need may contact the pantry for assistance at any time for assistance outside of this unique event.
Todd Johnson, a long-time pantry director and volunteer said, “On behalf of the Tewksbury Community Pantry and especially those we serve here in town, I want to thank the Tewksbury law enforcement teams that came together to support this year’s Thanksgiving Family Meal Distribution. Their generosity in protecting and serving those in need is an extension of their daily calling. We all know that inflation is having a huge impact on everyone right now, especially those who struggle to make ends meet, so the financial support provided by the various unions and benevolent organizations associated with our police department comes at a critical time. They each have been reliable supporters and we are extremely grateful for their generosity this year.”
“The people at the Tewksbury Community Pantry have worked diligently for years to feed families in need around the holidays. We believe it’s a great cause and we’re honored to provide assistance any way we can, whether it be by donations or volunteer work,” said Sgt. Mike Donovan, president of the Tewksbury Police Benevolent Association and Vice President of the Tewksbury Superior Officers Union.
