NORTON — Chief Shawn Simmons is pleased to announce that the Norton Fire Department is now accepting donations for the local toy drive, Christmas Is For Kids.
Christmas Is For Kids is a volunteer-run program that provides gifts for children in the communities of Norton, Attleboro, North Attleboro, Plainville, Seekonk and Rehoboth who would otherwise go without on Christmas Day. The program provides new toys and clothes to approximately 1,000 local children each year with support from local agencies and community members.
Since the program’s inception, the Norton Fire Department has served as a community partner collecting donations from the Norton community.
To assist the program in its gift-giving efforts, community members can drop off donations at the Norton Fire Department Headquarters, 70 East Main St., from now until Saturday, Dec. 10.
Community members can drop off new, unwrapped toys, clothing, coats, boots, gloves, blankets and more at the station to be donated to the program.
Community members can make monetary donations online here.
“Christmas Is For Kids is a great program with the mission of ensuring that every child in the Norton community and our surrounding communities have the excitement of opening a new gift on Christmas morning,” Chief Simmons said. ‘We are proud to once again be partnering with the program to support their donation efforts. We encourage any Norton residents with the ability to do so to donate to this meaningful cause. All local donations can be dropped off at our department.”
