BOURNE — As part of an annual tradition at the school, Bourne Intermediate School students spent Thursday, Nov. 10 honoring local veterans and thanking them for their service.
Students in grades 3-5 partnered with “Mission: Thank Our Senior Veterans” by making thank you cards for veterans that will be collected and distributed to veterans in the coming days. The group collects thank you cards for veterans around holidays such as Veterans Day, Valentines Day and more. For more information, click here.
Students also placed over 400 flags in front of the school in a show of support and appreciation for veterans.
Lastly, students started the day by taking part in a breakfast with veterans and their family members to thank them in person and learn more about their lives and service.
“We have a very deep and storied tradition of military service in Bourne and our students have always done a terrific job recognizing veterans every year for Veterans Day,” principal Jane Norton said. “On behalf of the BIS community we thank our community’s veterans for all they have sacrificed on behalf of this country, as well as the many staff members who helped honor the veterans as part of today’s events.”
