GEORGETOWN — Chief Donald C. Cudmore is pleased to announce that the Georgetown Police Department will hold its sixth annual holiday food drive next month.
WHEN:
Saturday, Nov. 19, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
WHERE:
Crosby’s Market parking lot, 62 Central St.
WHAT:
Community members who are able to are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items and goods to benefit local families in need this holiday season. All donations will be placed into the back of Georgetown Police cruisers for delivery to Emmaus House.
Items being sought for donation include canned vegetables and fruit, baked beans, soups, canned meals, rice, cereal, peanut butter, granola bars, flour, powdered milk and pasta, as well as personal care items like soaps, shampoos, toothpaste and toilet paper.
Early donations will be accepted in the lobby of the Georgetown Police Department, 47 Central St, through Nov. 19.
The amount of food and goods collected in the past were:
- 2017: 1,785 pounds
- 2018: 1,871 pounds
- 2019:1,173 pounds
- 2020: 2,500 pounds
- 2021: 2,200 pounds
The Department asks for the community’s help to surpass last year’s amount.
“Over the years, our community has shown tremendous support for this food drive. This speaks volumes to our residents’ commitment to helping those in need, especially during the holiday season, which can be a difficult time for many,” Chief Cudmore said. “We ask anyone who is able to join us next month to help fill our cruisers and beat the amount collected last year, so that this drive has the greatest impact possible.”
