RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department is providing an update on the search for 16-year-old Colleen Weaver.
A candlelight vigil will be held Thursday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Raynham (Stone Church). Chief Donovan will be present at the vigil to offer support and will also be available to speak to members of the media who may be present.
Raynham Police are still actively searching for Weaver, who has been missing since she left her home sometime between 1 and 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Having no contact with her since that day, she is believed to be in danger.
Yesterday, the Raynham Police Department further sought the assistance of local and regional media outlets to help get the word out about their search, and continues to ask for the media’s help in this matter. This included seeking assistance from media outlets in Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire.
As a result of this appeal for help, the Raynham Police Department has received more than 50 tips from citizens from across New England and beyond in the past 24 hours. Police are investigating every possible lead that may assist in their investigation.
Since Weaver was reported missing by her family, the Raynham Police Department has been in close contact with local, state and federal partners — including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the Commonwealth Fusion Center and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. Police are now also being assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Boston field office.
Weaver is officially listed as missing in the National Crime Information Center and with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, who shared this video of Colleen earlier today.
“We want to thank everyone who has come forward with information that may help us locate Colleen, as well as members of the media who have helped us spread her photo and information,” Chief Donovan said. “The Raynham Police Department is committed to doing everything it can to safely locate Colleen and we greatly appreciate the immense support we have received since our investigation began last week.”
Colleen is described as 5-feet-tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with red/pink hair. It is believed that she was wearing black glasses and possibly a sweatshirt and leggings. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Raynham Police Department at 508-824-2717.
