READING — Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department arrested a man on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop over the weekend.
GEORGE J. BRYSON II, AGE 37, OF METHUEN was arrested and charged with:
- Unregistered Motor Vehicle
- Operation of a Motor Vehicle Without a License
- Possession of a Class A Substance (Oxycodone)
- Possession of a Class B substance (3 counts – Buprenorphine and Naloxone, Crack Cocaine and Adderall)
- Possession of a Class C Substance With Intent to Distribute (Xanax)
- Possession of a Class C Substance (Psilocybin Mushrooms)
- Possession of a Class E Substance (Two Counts – Testosterone Cypionate and Venlafaxine Hydrochloride)
- Possession of Fireworks
- Fugitive From Justice
On Saturday, Oct. 22, at approximately 8:47 p.m., a Reading Police officer patrolling on Main Street stopped a vehicle with an expired registration and identified BRYSON as the driver, though he was not the registered owner of the vehicle.
Through a subsequent query of BRYSON’S license, the officer determined that it was expired and that BRYSON was wanted on a warrant from the Rockingham Sheriff’s Office in New Hampshire on a drug charge.
After learning this information, Reading Police took BRYSON into custody without incident and conducted a search of the vehicle he was driving, which yielded several hundred dollars and a variety of illegal and prescription drugs, including crack cocaine, Xanax, Venlafaxine, Alprazolam, Oxycodone, Buprenorphine and several pills that were not identified at the time of their seizure out of concern for officer safety.
Reading Police also seized multiple boxes of sandwich bags and a metal spoon with residue, burnt tin foil, and straws which are all consistent with the use of narcotics.
BRYSON was held pending his arraignment in Woburn District Court, which was expected today, and Reading Police have been in contact with the Rockingham Sheriff’s Office regarding extradition.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
