RANDOLPH — Chief Ronald Cassford reports that the Randolph Fire Department extinguished a fire at a two-family home on North Main Street this afternoon.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19 at approximately 2:40 p.m., Randolph Fire was dispatched to 685 North Main St. for a report of a house fire. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the first-floor unit of the residence.
Crews removed siding from the house in an attempt to apply water to the affected area. They then moved inside, opened the walls to find the source of the fire, and extinguished the fire. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes of crews’ arrival on scene.
There was one resident at home at the time of the fire who was able to safely escape on their own. No injuries were reported.
The three occupants of the first-floor unit will be displaced until repairs can be made. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Mutual aid was provided by the Holbrook and Brockton Fire Departments. Station coverage was provided by the Braintree and Weymouth Fire Departments.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Randolph Fire Department, though the preliminary investigation indicates it was accidental.
