STONEHAM — Superintendent David Ljungberg is pleased to invite members of the community to the Stoneham Public Schools’ upcoming School Safety Night.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend the district’s annual School Safety Night on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. at Stoneham High School. The evening will offer attendees an opportunity to learn about several important safety-related topics affecting students, and how to approach discussing some of those topics with their children.
District leaders will discuss topics like mental health and substance use, the dangers of prescription drugs and risky behaviors, vaping, alcohol abuse, as well as staying safe online and on social media.
Stoneham’s School Resource Officer will provide more information on what their role is in the schools day to day, as well as provide an update on building security measures and more general tips around bicycle safety and Halloween safety.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about the district’s use of ALICE training — Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate — for potential active shooter scenarios, as well as other drills and safety protocols the district has in place to make students prepared and keep them safe.
