TEWKSBURY – Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested and charged a Lowell man with firearms, drug, and motor vehicle offenses as a result of a routine traffic stop.
DANIEL DIGIOVANNI, AGE 47, OF LOWELL, was arrested and charged with:
- Carrying a Firearm Without a License (Second Offense)
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
- Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card (Subsequent Offense)
- Possession of a Class A Substance (Subsequent Offense)
- Possession of a Class B Substance (Subsequent Offense)
- Operating With a Suspended License (Subsequent Offense)
- Unregistered Motor Vehicle
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, at approximately 8:15 p.m., A Tewksbury Police detective was conducting surveillance on Andover Street when he observed a vehicle with an expired registration.
The detective stopped the vehicle as the driver, subsequently identified as DIGIOVANNI, drove it away from 1920 Andover St. The detective learned that DIGIOVANNI’S driver’s license was suspended.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police located two small baggies containing fentanyl and crack cocaine in the driver’s compartment, and a 9mm semi-automatic handgun with a loaded, 17-round magazine in the vehicle’s trunk.
DIGIOVANNI was arrested at the scene. He will be arraigned Thursday in Lowell District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
