LOWELL — Acting Superintendent Barry Golner and the Lowell Police Department invite the community to the second-annual Youth Outreach Day.
WHEN:
Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 3:30-6 p.m.
WHERE:
JFK Plaza, 50 Arcand Drive, Lowell, MA
WHAT:
The Lowell Police Department’s second-annual Youth Outreach Day will feature games, food, and refreshments, a chance to challenge Lowell Police officers at corn hole, as well as opportunities to see and touch police equipment.
The Chelsea Police Department ice cream truck will be on hand. The Manchester, N.H., Police Department will have its equestrian unit and comfort pony at the event to interact with the public. The Massachusetts National Guard will supply an inflatable sports game.
National Park Police, the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council and the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office are also expected to be on hand with vehicles and representatives.
Grant funds from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Shannon Community Safety Initiative will be used to provide games. A video game van will be available, and there will also be raffle prizes.
“I would like to invite the community to stop by with their children have some fun while having positive interactions with police officers. Though I would like to advise the public that our officers are highly skilled at corn hole, and will take any good-natured challenges from community members seriously,” said Interim Superintendent Golner. “I would also like to thank DCU for a generous donation that will pay for food for the event, and the Lowell Police Superior Officers Union for generously donating raffle prizes.”
