NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH — Superintendent John Antonucci is pleased to report that the Falls Elementary School will have new basketball hoops in time for the opening of school later this month.
Two new adjustable-height basketball hoops have been installed at the school’s playground for use by both Falls students and the greater North Attleborough community.
The new hoops were purchased as a result of the Falls PTO’s end-of-year project, and served as a joint effort between the PTO and the school district. Donations from the PTO and funds supplied by the district allowed the PTO to replace the existing hoops at the school, which were in very poor condition.
The hoops were installed in late July, and have been enjoyed by the community over the past month.
Falls PTO President Matthew Wise played a key role in purchasing the hoops and overseeing their installation, along with the assistance of his sons Gavin and Calvin (who are entering third grade and second grade at Falls, respectively).
“These projects would not have happened without the support of our PTO members,” Wise said. “Each and every one of our members work so hard to ensure our children can have safe, smart and fun school environments, so when the general public comes around to support a project like this it truly shows what kind of ‘slam dunk’ community, town and school system we have. We also want to thank the district for matching the funds we raised and continuing to support our schools and our students.”
The district would like to acknowledge the PTO for their efforts in securing the new hoops for the start of the school year.
“The PTO should be commended for raising the funds to help get these hoops installed, in particular Matt Wise who contributed to the fundraising and also donating a great deal of his own personal time as part of the project,” Superintendent Antonucci said. “So far we have heard very positive feedback on these new hoops, and we know once school starts next week students will take full advantage of them.”
